Homeowners are Remodeling

by Allen on March 1st, 2011

A fellow business associate of mine, Susanne Lynch of Virtual Homes Real Estate, forwarded me this article posted in the Nashua Telegraph that Homeowners are Cautiously Remodeling again.  Briefly, the article informs us that Homeowners are ready to start investing in their homes again.  They see the economy is improving and they are willing to spend on home improvements.   http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/newsworldnation/910277-227/homeowners-cautiously-remodel.html.

Over the last year we have installed new windows, several new sliding glass doors and front, entryway doors.   This winter we were busy remodeling a kitchen and installing a new bathroom for two different Homeowners.  Already in 2011 we have meet with a Homeowner in Amherst who needs more room , they want to build a master suite (bedroom and bathroom) above their existing garage and want to convert that garage into a family room.    Also working with another customer in Merrimack who are looking to enlarge their kitchen by 12′ and install new cabinets and flooring.

There are many ways to spruce up your home and not break the preverbal bank, put a fresh coat of paint on the interior or exterior of your home.  Replacing an old, drafty front door with an energy efficient door will save money and look fantastic.  Put a small entryway or front porch on the front of your home to give you additional outdoor living space.

My favorite remodel upgrade is giving your old pressure treated deck a face lift.  Many people are investing in composite decking (Azek) and railings and putting up a new deck.  There is a great way to save money, pull up the old decking and leave the frame and the footings.  Now you are ready to install new decking and railings and eliminate the cost of framing the deck.  Your old deck and even be enlarged.

So everybody think spring and spring projects!!
