Scratch Resistant
When Customers ask us what type of building material we recommend for maintenance free decking, a product that will not need to be painted or stained every couple of years, then we suggest an all plastic, PVC decking material manufactured by Azek . This product, is scratch resistant, is available in a beautiful selection of colors and resists stains, even red wine (we had a customer spill red wine on their brand new deck and easily wiped it up with no residue or stain left behind). Azek also provides a new installation system called HIDfast which enables the deck builder to install the decking with no visible screws or nails, basically blind side nailing. Keith started installing his decks this year with the HIDfast nailing system and the decks come out beautiful and the Homeowner loves not having any screw holes in the decking.

Installing the Ledger Board and Tyvek

Now that the rotted siding was removed from the house in Milford NH we installed new sheathing. Along with the sheathing we installed a brand new 2X10 ledger board to ensure the deck is adhered to a strong board. Since the area under the deck is a hot spot for water we installed Tyvek to protect the sheathing from moisture.
Notice how careful the team is on protecting the homeowner’s gardens, we work around the garden beds to prevent trampling. Keith and his crew are very respectful of the Homeowners property by taking care of the building and grounds and cleaning the jobsite daily. The next step for this project will be to frame the deck, that we will see tomorrow.
The Deck is Removed

As you notice this is an older house built back in the 70’s and the Homeowner had concern about rot in the area underneath the deck. When we removed the deck/patio we found quite a bit a rot on the exterior sheathing (plywood) due to rain getting underneath the siding where the deck was attached to the house. We removed the entire area of the plywood and replaced new plywood, we then installed Grace Ice Watershield that is normally used on roofs to protect the plywood from new damage caused by rain. Before we started any new work we cleaned the work site of all debris including miscellaneous nails as we ensure the jobsite is pristine each day.

Deck - Before
Last week we started a fairly large job for a customer in Milford NH, we will be replacing rotted siding on half of their house, replacing all of their house windows, with Harvey Industry’s replacement windows, and we will be demolishing their existing pressure treated deck and rebuilding the deck with Azek composite decking (Azek is really all PVC plastic decking, their is no wood in the product).
