Last month we built a brand new front porch for a customer in Merrimack NH. We used Azek Decking for the deck of the porch, Azek trim boards for the stair risers and corner boards, Azek posts and railings to finish everything up. The entire front porch is maintenance free made of PVC materials and will never need to be painted or stained. The easiest way to clean is by pressure washing once a year. It is amazing how a front porch can dress up the appearance of your home.
Most homes now have power restored from the Snowtober storm. We personally lost power from Saturday to Thursday but thankfully we had a generator. There unfortunately is a big “But”, on Monday night our generator died and we had to search for a new generator, lucky we found one in Rochester NH. Setting it up, Keith realized that our plug was a three prong and the generator was a four prong, we checked all the local electrical stores, County stores, Lowes and Home Depot and they were all sold out. Thankfully we have a great electrician that came to our house with the correct plug to install our brand new generator. A big shout out to Evan Jones, Master Electrician of Milford NH, you saved us my friend. Anyone who needs a great electrician give Evan Jones a call.
The best recommendation I can provide when selecting a Building Contractor to work on your home is to check with the NH Better Business Bureau website. A customer from Bedford NH called me yesterday needing a Builder because their previous Contractor took their deposit, started the job and then never showed back up after several weeks and many phone call attempts. This Homeowner realized they needed to call a qualified Contractor so they checked on the BBB website and found out the Contractor they had originally hired had an ‘F+’ rating. When they searched for a new local builder they stumbled upon Allen Remodeling, took a look at our web site and gave us a call. Keith walked through the entire job with them, called and met with the Bedford Building Inspector and meet with Uncle Hilde’s Lumber Outlet where the Homeowner picked out all of their building materials. I am happy to report this Homeowner will have Allen Remodeling build them a new sunroom that will be built to support a Jacuzzi.
We just started working this week for a new customer in Amherst NH, we are installing new Harvey Industry replacement windows in their entire house. We are also stripping the entire siding off of their house, installing insulation board before we install CertainTeed vinyl siding on the entire house. Instead of bending metal or install vinyl corner boards we will be installing vinyl Azek boards which will withstand the winter elements longer.
Some of the sills and trim around the windows have rotted so we needed to install 4 new construction windows instead of replacement windows.
