Several years ago we built 8 in-law apartments, additions, for families and their elderly parents. Many families during the economic downturn decided to combine their assets, communities and return back to a more nuclear family of living together. Usually the parents will sell their home and build onto their child’s home increasing the value of the child’s home. An average in law apartment consists of a smaller bedroom, living room, bathroom and small kitchen allowing the parents all the comforts of living in a home. Recently we were approached by two potential customers who are in the planning stages, fact finding, to build an in-law apartment on their homes in Amherst and Milford. Many Towns are now allowing in law apartments built onto single family homes but there may be some restrictions, your best approach is to speak to the Town Building Department to make sure they allow this process.
Front Porch Deck is almost complete

The landing leading to the front door was built last month so the Homeowner will have access to the new, not completely finished, addition. Last week Keith and the crew built a matching deck off of the side porch entrance. Both decks are matching using Azek decking and Azek railings. Take notice of the front entrance deck, Keith wrapped the entire deck with Azek trim boards to hide the pressure treated framing also including the stair treads. The deck is completely maintenance free. These pictures were taken today at the addition we are finishing in Lyndeborough, Keith is installing custom cabinets in the library/office. Our interior designer Donna Boerner, DB Interiors, Merrimack NH has created a beautiful, relaxing environment for this customer to display all of their treasures, book collections and provided an officey space for home projects. Cabinets are set in Lyndeborough NH
Moving along nicely in Lyndeborough NH, as I mentioned in my previous post, the insulation and drywall came out perfect. Keith has set all the cabinets in the library/office and the granite countertop company is going to template the countertops tomorrow so we can move forward. The bathroom vanity has also been installed as well as the tiled shower. Soon we will be ready to install all the finish trim/doors and start painting.
