How Qualified is You’re Building Contractor?

by Allen

Before hiring a remodeler you must check out the following about the business’s credentials.

1.  Does the contractor carry Liability Insurance? (Make sure you receive a copy of the policy before they start).

2.  Does the contractor carry workman’s comp insurance for their employees?

3.  Does the contractor have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, BBB?

4. Ask the contractor for at least 3 recent customer referrals to call.

5.  Call the local lumber companies to check on the contractor’s reputation.

6.  Call your Town/City Building Department to check on the contractor’s reputation.  Make sure the contractor applies for building permits.

7.  Has the contractor won any workmanship awards in the community?

Allen Remodeling can answer yes to each one of the items listed above.  We have an A+ rating with the BBB and we have won 4 consecutive years the Souhegan Choice Award for Best Contractor/Remodeler in the Souhegan Valley.  Call us and ask for Barbara, she will assist you with the best customer service you can find in a construction company.

Suggestions on ways to increase the living space in your home by remodeling

by Allen

There are many ways to increase the living space in your home from utilizing existing space or adding on.  Over the past 20 years we have remodeled many basements to either provide an in-law apartment for families or a playroom for children or to provide office space for a satellite work office.  Remodeling an attic is a great way to provide extra room in a home, possibly adding a bedroom or adding a home office.

Another alternative is to build an addition onto the exterior of your home.  This addition can be one story and used for a family room, a bedroom or inlaw apartment.  Some people build two story additions with bedrooms on the second story and a large living space on the first, maybe even enlarging the kitchen.

A third alternative is, if you have a ranch, is to build a complete second story on top of your home.

Many ideas for different solutions for your building needs.
