We started a new project yesterday in Manchester NH building a farmers porch or some people call a front porch. The first step in building any deck or porch is put in the foundation, in this case we need to dig 6 sona tubes. Most towns (such as Bedford NH, Amherst NH, Milford NH and Merrimack NH) only require the holes to be 8” wide and 4’ deep, Manchester requires the sona tube holes to be 10” wide by 4’, it might not sound like much of difference but when you are digging six of them it adds up. The Manchester Building Inspector approved our holes and Keith and Jeremiah quickly filled them with cement to cure overnight. Today the framing will begin.
The snow has melted, some early perennials are peering up through the ground, Spring is here everybody!! I also know Spring has arrived because Homeowners have been calling from all over Southern NH (i.e. Amherst NH, Bedford NH, Hollis NH, Merrimack NH, Brookline NH, Milford NH) for estimates on projects ranging from a simple front door replacement to building a deck, front porch, garage addition, second story addition and bathroom remodel. No project is too small or too big for Allen Remodeling as we will replace one window or build an addition or build you a home if you incline. Allen Remodeling is a fully insured General Contractor, in business for over 20 years.
Keith and Jeremiah went on an estimate today for a Homeowner in Merrimack NH whose deck fell off his home. 5 years ago this Homeowner hired a General Contractor to build a home for his family. Unbeknown to the Homeowner the Contractor did not install Lag Bolts to secure the deck to the house. So 5 years later, on a clear, beginning of Spring day the deck falls off completely from the house and thankfully no one was injured. Securing your deck to the home is very important element in building a deck, using Lag Bolts is imperative for solid connection between deck and house. The Homeowner was frustrated, he called Currier Lumber of Amherst NH to ask for an experienced Deck Builder and Currier recommend Allen Remodeling. Allen Remodeling has built many decks over the past 20 years using pressure treated lumber and composite decking (we use Azek decking materials). If you are looking for a qualified deck builder please give us a call.
Allen Remodeling recommends Angie’s List
Several people have asked me the difference between Angie’s List and Home Advisor (previously Service Magic) is one is a paid lead generating service and one is customer referral driven. Angie’s List does not allow General Contractors to advertise on their site, they seek out legitimate, honest referrals, good or bad from customers whom have employed a Contractor. Home Advisor signs up Contractors and charges them for every lead generated, Home Advisor really does not know for sure if the Contractor is qualified. If I was looking for a service driven referral service I would use Angie’s List hands down.
